Moodlemoot Canada Conference Update

As mentioned a few weeks back, Lambda Solutions is very proud to have several of our Moodle experts speaking at the Canadian Moodlemoot conference happening in Edmonton on May 1 to 5. The 2011 CanadaMoot is focused on open learning topics (ie. open source, open access, open data, open educational resources, open pedagogies and open networks).

We’re excited to see how the conference agenda is shaping up with some extraordinary keynote speakers.

• Martin Dougiamas, “best known as the guy who started Moodle, the open source course management system that is used by thousands of institutions around the world.”

• Stephen Downes is a senior researcher for Canada’s National Research Council and a leading proponent of the use of online media and services in education. As the author of the widely-read OLDaily online newsletter, Downes has earned international recognition for his leading-edge work in the field of online learning.

• Paul Stacey works in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where he's involved in all kinds of leading edge initiatives around the use of educational technology for higher education. Paul has been involved in the use of technology for education since 1982.

As noted earlier, Lambda Solutions’ own Scott Tearle and Jim Yupangco will be giving presentations at Moodlemoot that promise to give practical tips about using Moodle as well as case study of the development of a shared services model.

Scott Tearle’s presentation is “Moodle 2.0 Repositories, concept and practical application”.

This workshop will explain the benefits of repositories and show you how to set up a repository. After this session you will have a good understanding of the concept and considerations that will help you to plan and implement repositories. 

Jim Yupangco’s presentation is “Cross-institutional Moodle Shared Services in BC”.

This presentation will focus on the Shared Services model: its vision, its business paradigm and the support systems in place, using BC Campus as a case study. BC Campus, in partnership with Lambda Solutions provides Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) Shared Services to post-secondary institutions across British Columbia.
