In this digital age of disruptive technologies, we have access to an exorbitant amount of information and subsequently learning opportunities. We share knowledge, create resources, give feedback and so much more. But, not everyone is able to access these learning opportunities for a number of reasons - whether it be physical, sensory, or cognitive limitations or disabilities.
We strive to help people learn and so empowering them to have access to the same learning opportunities is what making learning accessible all about. We’ve invited John Rochford, Accessibility Expert and Program Director and Ranjana Verma, Learning Management Systems Administrator at the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center for a two-part webinar series July 10th and 17th at 10 am PT to share their expertise on Accessible Learning.
The first part of the series will provide a/an:
- Overview of Accessible Learning;
- Breakdown of the guidelines behind a successful Accessible Learning program strategy with focus on the World Wide Web Consortium and its Web Content Accessibility Guidelines;
- Context behind the importance of Accessible Learning and how organizations, like yours, can be more aware and how to take the first steps;
- Introduction to making digital technology more usable by everyone, including people with disabilities; and
- Explanation about why both public and private Websites must be usable by people with disabilities.
The second part of the series will be focusing on the implementation portion of Accessible Learning using Moodle. Ranjana will be taking a lead on demonstrating a step by step guide to build the foundational pieces of an Accessible Learning program. Stay tuned for more details on the agenda.
